License Compliance - Same license to multiple versions of software

So we have 40 Adobe Pro licenses that can work on 10, 11 and the new DC. But when I add the software to be counted against that license. It treats it as we have 40 licenses for each version instead of 40 total. Is this a Kace issue that cannot be fixed and I need to manually create 3 licenses in Kace and move the numbers back and forth accordingly when a user needs a different version of Adobe Pro? Or Can I/Kace handle this differently?

  • This answer works but the only, VERY MINOR, complaint is now Kace is whining that the license needs to be transferred to the new software catalog. But if I do that, then I can't apply it to the created software asset. - Thomas86 9 years ago

1. In the Software Inventory create a smart label that includes all versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro.

2. In the Assets module create a Software asset that uses the label you created in step 1.

3. In the Assets module set the License to use the Software title you created in step 3.

The License will now cover all software versions that are included in the smart label you initially created. As new sub-versions are detected in KACE they should automatically be added to the label as long as they match the criteria.

  • I have completed steps 1 and 2 but when I go to the license to add the Software Asset, It will only let me add Cataloged Software. Any ideas? - Thomas86 9 years ago
    • Edit the license asset type and add a field that references the Software asset type. - chucksteel 9 years ago
      • OK, I think I have this all setup. I am waiting for Kace to update it all. - Thomas86 9 years ago
