Managed installation for Mac OSX - alternate location
I am having troubles getting a managed install of Adobe Design & Web Premium CS6 to work in KACE. I have it setup to use an alternate download location. I used the AAMEE packaging tool from Adobe and then compressed the .pkg file to a .pkg.zip. I then created a "dummy file" named exactly the same as the installer (just like with a Windows install) and attached it to the software inventory instance. I used a app called MD5 to find the checksum. I did this from the Mac OSX machine. The installation command is set to Use Default. Everytime I force the machine to check in and the MI runs, it fails. Under the data folder for the KACE agent I look in the packages folder and the downloaded package is always 0KB in size. I also check the KBOT_LOG.txt file and it says:

Apple got rid of smbclient util in 10.7 which was used by Dell Kace agent to download files from smbpath. Hence, downloading from smbpath is broken in 5.3 agent. However, to workaround this in 5.3, Dell Kace has created an smbclient util which when placed in /usr/bin , Dell Kace agent will be able to download the package from smb location. I would recommend contacting Dell Kace support to get this smbclient util.

What Dell Kace Agent version are you using?
Also, what is the MAC OS version?

Have you tried to open a terminal window and manually connect to the share. See if you can copy it that way to test your connection info you are using.

I can access the share by going to 'connect to server'. that is how I copied the .pkg.zip file to the network share. - sburkey2 12 years ago
