owner and Assigned to in assets

I'm looking forward to seeing an answer for this. I have a couple of "community" machines in this exact scenario. For some I have created a dummy user account and assigned them to that. - AndrewQ 7 years ago

I am curious how this is determined as well. I can see that the Assignee is based on the last user logged into that device, but i would think this should be static and not ever changing if users share devices. - bstutz 7 years ago

From my experiments, it seems ONLY one person can be the assignee and the assignee is ALWAYS changed to the last logged in user. This is, indeed, problematic for many configurations (we've already seen complaints on this forum about Software Library not working as before). I'm very surprised Quest changed the settings this way and apparently didn't consider multiple-user computers nor the needs of technicians to be "assigned" to the computers they support.
If you have Asset History turned on, you can at least see the old assignees and when the assignee was changed. You could also create a CIR to pull users who have logged into the machine. I realize these workarounds don't solve all problems but it's the best I've got.
