replacing SSL certificate for k1000 appliance

Hi,

 

I'm about to replace the web certificate on the kace appliance. We've paid for a certificate from the same vendor as last time but I'm wondering when I replace the certificate will there be any prompts/messages that show up on the desktop machines? I'm running 5.3 client and server.

Unsure...Have you reached to Dell Support? They might be best equiped to answer this.

For 5.3 server and agents, they will continue to encrypt traffic between them when SSL is enabled if you've applied a new cert onto the K1000 but not yet distributed among agents.

If something were to go wrong, data to be transferred via web between server and agent would fail, so a first indication may be overdue inventory on the Computer list page.  There would be no indication displayed on agent machines' UIs, but agent logs would indicate failures to transfer data over web.

Here's an example of a successful inventory transfer from a Windows 7 agent's kcopy.log:
