Setting NTP

We had our desktop image with a manual registry setting for NTP to be enabled and the authoritative server to be our router. I want to change that, I created a container, stopped inheritance, created a policy with the ntp server name as the authoritative server and the protocol to be used nt5ds.

I have put computers into that OU, have them restart, and the policy doesn't change the registry settings.

I have them do a gpupdate /force it doesn't change it.

What do I need to do? What are typical settings for this?

Have you tried creating a startup or logon script which would set NTP and deploy that out via GPO?
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
