Hello GreggVohn:

There are two versions of the Classroom Jeopardy. There is a keyboard/cartridge version, and a newer 2011 version with USB, whiteboards, and "new" clickers. It is unclear if the 2011 Classroom Jeopardy signaling buttons are backward compatible.

If you are using the older version. Some of those come with a software disk that has the "J!Edit" software, and you can edit the games from your laptop computer, and save them to the cartridge. -- Without that software, there is a separate keyboard that will plug into the score unit, and that can be used to manually update the cartridges.

If you are using the newer version (2011), then you will need the USB and the Clue Studio software included on that USB to create and upload games. You are not limited to the factory USB, but you need to have the Clue Studio software to create the games.

I personally have been unable to find the software online for each edition. I swear I had a USB of this somewhere, but I have thus far been unable to find it. The files used to be hosted by the company Educational Insights (the makers of Classroom Jeopardy!) for both versions, but they no longer support Classroom Jeopardy and are out-of-production.

If you know anyone who has a 2011 Clue Studio, or the earlier J!Edit software, please let me know. I

I hope that this response helps! Good luck.

Response: What is Jeopardy!?

PS. There are other software online that simulate the Jeopardy experience if you are unable to get this solution to work.

Hi! I picked up one of the 2011 units at a thrift store and it was complete aside from a missing thumb drive.

I downloaded the Clue Studio (thanks Bob!!) and created a test clue set. I then transfered it to a fresh thumb drive. However, when I plug it in to the unit and turn it on, the scoreboards flash on and off and nothing happens.

Is there other software on the original thumb drive that is needed, or might I just have a defective unit?

If you have the 8000 series, you need Clue Studio.  It is no longer on the EI web site, but is linked here
