Connection to site database failed
Our environment consists of a combined sms2003/ms sql server.
Since yesterday i'm unable to connect to my site database in the sms administrator console.
The sitestat.log file contains the following entry's:
Error: Could not get a SQL connection from the connection cache. Will try again in 60 seconds. : The operation completed successfully.~~ $$<SMS_SITE_SYSTEM_STATUS_SUMMARIZER><Tue Jul 06 21:29:39.548 2004 W. Europe Daylight Time><thread=2648 (0xA58)>
*** [28000][18456][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'. $$<SMS_SITE_SYSTEM_STATUS_SUMMARIZER><Tue Jul 06 21:30:39.576 2004 W. Europe Daylight Time><thread=2648 (0xA58)>

What looks strange to me is the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account. I should expect another account here, like administrator...
I also can't add this account in the sql server enterprise manager.
I don't know were or how to change the account sms uses to connect to the site database.
Anybody any suggestions?

Check your ODBC settings on the local machine....perhaps you installed something that has changed your registry and it has reverted to NT Authentication.
The SMS client does use the System account to log in to its databases unless you specified to use SQL Authentication and assigned Usernames and passwords.

I guess you're right.
But if I change the authentication type I need to connect with a database user like sa. And I don't know the password for this account.
Is there any way to reset it?
I changed security back to NT authentication. I connect as administrator but still don't have access to any security settings.
