Deploy Adobe Pro 6 with 6.01 update over GPO, questions

hi there

having some problems. Perhaps anyone can help me out.
Deploying acrobat pro 6.0 with GPO & mst was no problem.
No I am trying to update to 6.0.2. Unfortunatly I first need to install the MSP 6.01. But it's not possible to deploy it directly with GPO under Win2k Server.

I've tried to create a script installing that MSP via customaction, trying other things. But it fails. Also trying nested customaction but that only works with MSI and not MSP.

has anyone an Idee how I can deploy 6.0.1 without repackaging the app?

Regards

Olivier

olivier,

My experience has been that it is easier (and less frustrating) to uninstall the original deployment of 6 via AD/GPO, then redeploy 6.01. Although Adobe is now providing .msi's and .msp's, they are not particularly well-formed or easy to work with.

I did the same Craig....its the only way unless you want to deploy Adobe products straight out of the box and let the users use the Adobe update tool......AS IF!

olivier,

God is in the details, and I missed that one. My apologies.

I would start by contacting Adobe and seeing if they will send you updated media.

If you know anyone who has received media recently, you should be able to use your keys with their media. Double-check on the licensing, though, if you go this route.

Hmmm, I've really tried deploying this by GPO and it just isn't happening. It kept giving me an error when I tried to add the MSI. I read some things in this forum where it said I could turn advexecseq or something like that off and it then allowed me to add it. However when I tried to push either add an MST or push it down without an MST it always gives an error. I basically gave up on it.
