Exclusion List

Our organisation has chosen Marimba as our Desktop Management Tool. And presently we are preparing for the transition to new Enviornment throughout our Officies. Most of the applications we are repackaging are Shrinkwrap Packages. So I would request If any of you have a base File and Registry Entries Exclusion List ( The entries to be removed from packages ) that could serve as a root to build another exclusion List, Then please send it across at MARIMBA_HO@GMAIL.COM. It would be very kind help of yours.

Thanks in advance.

i would hope people would post their exlusion lists, or pointers to creating one, here so everyone could benefit. past experience makes me believe creating a good exclusion list is more art than science with some voodoo magic thrown in for flavor and would love to see how others handle this aspect too.

Well,

I am using a default exclusion List posted here at Appdeploy itself as base and have some of specific entries for softwares like Altiris and Marimba it self added to that which are not required on target machines. I am looking for a list particulary used by People who are usin MARIMBA as there re-packaging tool because it is in market now for almost 3 years.

Although using someone else's exclusion list is an option I wouldn't recommend it as every environment / base build is going to be different. Why not create your own exclusion list from scratch?

There are some tips here: http://www.wise.com/Library/RepackagingBasics.pdf on page 7. I know this is a Wise document but the same prinicipals apply whatever packaging tool you are using...

Hope it helps,
Rob.
