Verizon VZAccess install

I'm trying to silently install Verizon's VZAccess manager but I'm run into a wall.

i'm able to load it normally, with all of the windows popping, etc. but when i try silently the package loads the SW onto the PC and thinks that it's done its job and quits.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Gary

Gary,

you're going to have to provide a bit more detail because stating "loads the SW onto the PC and thinks that it's done" I would tend to agree.. isn't that the job of an installer?
Where exacly are the differences between the 2 installs? What type of installer did you make/use? Have you checked the Package KB on this site?

i'm using Dell's KACE box.
i have checked Package KB, it wasn't a lot of help.
I THINK the only difference between the two installs is for the silent install i'm using the /S switch.
i've tried configuring the install to use the install.exe, I've zipped up the install files and told KACE to use the .zip to no avail.
unless specified, KACE drops the install file onto the PC and then executes the install. So from monitoring the install i see the file/files are dropped onto the PC, from there KACE says okay, i've put the install file on the PC now i'm done and displays the "this concludes the install" window.

It sounds like the EXE is spawning another EXE which actually does the work. The first EXE quits, thus the Kace box thinks the job's done.

Clear out the %TEMP% folder. Run the first EXE and halt it at the first screen, normally a 'Welcome' dialog. Task Manager will show you if a different EXE is running. You'll probably find that EXE in either %TEMP% or somewhere beneath %AppData%. Copy the contents of the containing folder somewhere safe, then explore!

If I understood your instructions..........
I cleaned out the temp folder, etc. started the VZAccess install and i pulled up Task Mrg and saw that there's only 1 instance of VZAccess running and its file origin is that of the install folder.

VBScab is right..

Go to the %TEMP% folder after you pause at first welcome window when you run the VZAM___.exe. If your %TEMP% folder has been cleaned out then you will see one new folder in there with the current time and date. Copy the entire contents of that folder somewhere before doing anything else, this will get the Firmware MSI along with autorun, Docs, and Drivers folder, as well as the wrapped VZAccess Manager.exe install. If you click the "Install VZAccess Manager" option back on the first window it will install the Firmware MSI first and then start the VZ Access Manager MSI install. At this point you can leave the Welcome screen for VZAccess Manger screen up and go back to the %TEMP% directory. You will now see a few more new folders with GUID names.. One of these will contain the VZAccess Manager.msi. That's the one your after. Copy that one some where else and that should be all you need.

If this is an InstallShield setup.exe installer (wrapper) then try to add the "/SMS" argument so this doesn't happen.

ex. setup.exe bla bla /SMS
