XML file being applied to the MSI?
Hi Guys,
I’m currently trying to package Reuters 3000 Xtra. The installer is an MSI but before it kicks off you have a vast choice of settings that can be modified then saved as an XML file. My question is; how is the XML file being applied to the MSI?
Is there new-fangled WiX magic at work here?
Cheers

from what I remember of Reuters 3000 you can save the xml file to get the default logon information. I think you'll want to customize with a transform, however.

3000 xtra has a fancy interface for creating the XML, last time i touched it was about 3 years back.
but i believe the XML is used to chain the installs together. not so much as to transform the installs.
I believe it used to create a transform as well.
mind you all that being said using XML to transform an MSI is a relatively simple process also.
I use this method regularly in preference to TRANSFORMS

Hey,
3000 Xtra does indeed use fancy interface to create an XML with all my settings in. So you recon I just have transform the MSI(s) and add the settings from the XML file?
Cheers
