Partnership Significantly Reduces Cost and Size of Actual Software Updates with a Combination of Industry-Leading Software Update Technology and De Facto Standard Installation Authoring Solutions

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. and HAYWARD, Calif. June 17, 2002 – InstallShield® Software Corp., the acknowledged leader in software distribution and deployment solutions, and Red Bend Software™, Inc., the leading provider of solutions that enable the simple and efficient deployment of software updates, today announced a partnership to streamline the creation and delivery of software updates and patches for software developers.

The two companies will work to jointly develop and market an integrated solution that combines Red BendÂ’s vCurrent software update technology with InstallShieldÂ’s application packaging solutions to provide a dramatically simplified approach to creating and delivering minimal-size software updates over the Internet as well as the corporate intranet. The co-developed solution is scheduled for availability in Q4 of 2002.

While using delta-updates ensures fast, economic, reliable, and secure software updating that can be distributed via virtually any electronic media, this method can add additional management and technical requirements and the need to use a stand-alone updating solution.

The InstallShield-Red Bend partnership will enable software developers to effectively and efficiently manage, create, and deploy software updates using a co-developed solution that provides seamless integration between the most advanced and professional installation development environment and the most cost-effective and powerful delta-update solution available today.
