new to app-v

hello all

i have some experience in sequencing app-v but not yet had to create a connection group. i have to sequence Toad for Oracle so also need to sequence the Oracle client and connect these together. i would appreciate a how to re the creation of connection groups  
i am using SP3

  • there are a couple of options open to you, you can create the connection group via the app-v management server console, create the connection group via SCCM 2012 under the virtual environment tabs or create an adhock connection group via powershell applepie.se has a great tutorial on this, one thing to keep in mind tho is for all 3 you need to ensure that the COM and object interation settings are identical between all memebers of the connection group as if there is a mismatch the connection group will not take place, also worth noting is when using sccm there is a bug (still exists in 2012 R2 SP1) where if an application is a member of multiple connection groups active on the same machine the applications will fail to launch, this is due to sccm setting the same priority level for all connection groups, and the client does not know what connection group to bind the process to so it generates an error and cancels the application launch - sparky86 9 years ago
