Novo Lumen Software, Inc. is pleased to announce the immediate release, and first deployment, of NLS Device Tracker 1.0. Device Tracker is the first module of NLS, an application designed to help software vendors deal with life after release. Specifically, Device Tracker enables software vendors to understand how and where their products are installed.
Key Features of NLS Device Tracker
• Local logging of installations, updates, and related operations on a device.
• Automatic transfer of logging information to a central database owned by the software vendor or hosted by Novo Lumen.
• Reporting against the central database to understand what is installed where, when, at what patch level, and in what order.
Key Benefits of NLS Device Tracker
• Account for software patch levels to regulatory authorities or the customers’ IT departments.
• Determine a patch level in support scenarios, without requiring manual record-keeping or additional research.
• Understand what devices are lagging, so that customers can be encouraged to upgrade, reducing support costs.
• Control a strategy of incremental deployment in which updates are rolled out to a certain percentage of the install base at a time.
• Make informed decisions when prioritizing bug fixes, new functionality, and deciding when to cut support.
The First Deployment of NLS Device Tracker
NLS Device Tracker is now deployed at Segment 7, Inc., developers of Gazelle™, an accounting package designed to support workforce development agencies.
"Gazelle is installed on multiple servers, and before Device Tracker there was no easy way to keep track of who had what. Now we can quickly and easily see when installations were performed, on which devices, and with which installation packages."
"With its seamless integration into our build process, and its easy, intuitive web interface, Device Tracker will enable us to provide better support to our customers at significantly reduced cost."
- Justin Cook, Director of Development, Segment 7, Inc.
About Novo Lumen
Novo Lumen was founded to address post-release chaos that the three co-founders have experienced in the software industry. The company was founded in January, 2005 and is located in Boulder, Colorado.
The complete product NLS is Novo Lumen’s answer to these challenges. NLS is built upon a proprietary technology, AtomSense™. AtomSense is a collection of data structures and algorithms designed to encapsulate and gain control over software change, post-release.
