Application rationalization for ongoing portfolio management
As organizations continue to add new applications, and application vendors continue to upgrade to keep in step with the newest operating systems, IT departments are faced with serious application sprawl and a growing backlog of out-of-date and often unsupported applications. This issue is further exacerbated for organizations that have undergone any number of mergers and acquisitions over the last decade. By rationalizing the portfolio, IT can identify unused, redundant and out of date applications and trim down the portfolio through application elimination, consolidation and modernization. Application Portfolio Management Survey revealed that a staggering 79% of IT professionals rate their application portfolios to be in moderate or poor health. This implies that they have large number of out-of-date, unsupported or redundant applications.
