ActiveSync and USB support
Hi,
Months ago I successfully packaged MS ActiveSync. After several tests with the Ipaq5500 and the Ipaq2100 we took the application in production for our personnel. Our users use "hardened, managed windows XP SP1 workstations" The recognition of the Ipaq's is almost never a problem.
Except in some cases….
Sometimes (I think 1 out of 20) when the Ipaq is plugged in using the USB connection the workstation will ask for the local admin password to be able install the Ipaq. We are using Compaq EVO D510 and D530 as clients. On both clients this behaviour will appear once in a while. Also the driver signing warning dialog will pop-up in some cases,
Is there a way to able users to install USB hardware for which the driver is already present on the workstation? Without asking for the Admin Password once in a while.
I can imagine it’s a permission issue on the registry, But when using Filemon and Regmon I can’t find an access denied….
Sometimes the problem can be worked around by using just the other USB port, Sometimes.

I have used this to much success with both Blackberry and Scanner hardware installs and I highly recommend it to most ppl.
