Adobe Reader 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Crash

I am having some difficulty with reader 10.1.2, and now 10.1.3 crashing on my Windows 7 machines.

The signature for 10.1.3, which I hoped would have resolved the problem.

Problem signature:

  Problem Event Name:APPCRASH

  Application Name:AcroRd32.exe

  Application Version:10.1.3.23

  Application Timestamp:4f7bc349

  Fault Module Name:AcroRd32.dll

  Fault Module Version:10.1.3.23

  Fault Module Timestamp:4f7bd937

  Exception Code:c0000005

  Exception Offset:000d8be2

  OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4

  Locale ID:1033

  Additional Information 1:0a9e

  Additional Information 2:0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

  Additional Information 3:0a9e

  Additional Information 4:0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

This happens as soon as I start up the program.

10.1.1 does not have this issue.

Some people can use reader without it crashing, but then it crashes when they print.

Is anybody else seeing this issue?

UPDATES:
I tried turning protected mode off with 10.1.3. There was no change in the behavior, it still crashes as soon as I open it. 10.1.1 works fine.

Either try to use a universal printer driver...

...or turn off protected mode on Adobe reader.

Of course, this defeats the purpose of Protected Mode (presumably to prevent running of harmful scripts in PDF files).

...or have a look here for a workaround: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4142897#4142897#4142897

There seems to be some reader related file that got corrupted over capturing images, imaging, default profile etc. Working with Adobe Support I was able to find a tool to completely clean the system of adobe.

http://www.itninja.com/link/adobe-reader-acrobat-cleanup-tool

After running this tool I was able to run 10.1.3
