Asset assignment history
Is there a way to track assignment history on assets? For instance if I have a computer asset and I assign it to John, then Mary. Is there a way to view the computer asset and see the history? Specifically that John was assigned the device on this date and then ownership was transferred to Mary on this date?

Hello,
Yes it is possible.
Simply click on the link Show all History on the right top of the page of the Device view to see all the changes or you can use the menu Setting -> History -> (Reporting) -> Asset.

To assign an Asset to a user you will need to add the User field into any Asset Type that you wish to assign. To do this go to Assets>Asset Type and select your Asset type i.e. Device Click the Blue Plus sign to add an asset field and add in a User type field
Note the Type column is specifically "User"
What this now means is that you can select a User name from this drop down within the asset record for any Device, this also means that the Assets will now show up as being "owned" within the User Record.
And of course any ownership changes you make will be displayed in the History as described in the other comment on this thread.
