Holy cr@p, what an app to start with! LOL

Before you do ANYTHING, get hold of Phil Wilson's The Definitive Guide to Windows Installer and digest it. You cannot do this job without knowing the fundamentals (although plenty of people try...)

one of the best ways to learn is read the answers people give you then go / try to do them...

without doing that you are wasting both our time and yours.

Yes, what John said.

Also, you should read SAP's support materials - unless things have changed since sapGUI 7.1 which I packaged a couple of years ago, they have their own admin/packaging tool. It's called sapsetupadmin.exe

It's not perfect and not MSI format, but it made the packaging of this huge piece of software bearable.

Did anyone notice that this thread was started a year ago (by King) when he asked how to do packaging? And now he asked what jobs there are? I also don't think that he was trying to package SAP but was doing SAP, trying to learn how to do packaging so that he could change jobs! LOL

Jeff, looking at how many newbies post questions here, it seems that there are a lot of "offshore" people who would agree with you!

BTW, just looked at your profile - your primary packaging tool is "Saran"? What a hoot! I love it.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
