Blackberry Dekstop Manager 4.7
Hey all,
I've been having a few funny issues with the creating an MST for the new Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.7.
Now the MST gets created without any issues, the MST captures my changes, however when ever i try to run the bundled inside the setup exe i get the following error message“The wizard was interrupted before Blackberry Desktop Software 4.7 could complete†i have downloaded the setup exe 3 times now and i get the same error.
Has anyone experienced this issue?? I've never had so many problems creating an MST as i do with this stupid application. I also noticed that even though i turn the automatic updates option off during the mst setup, its still there when i run the mst within wise in the testing phase.

Wise adds a lot of extra table to the transform and some installers will error. Try calling the msi with the TRANSFORMS= switch and see if that works.
If not use the Transform to Base MSI comparision and find the properties that have changed and use orca to create the transform.
If I use InstallTailor to capture changes I alwoays remove everything other than the properties changed.
Hope this helps.

Howdy,
So, you have an MSI and you're able to succesfully (aside from disabling updates) create an MST. Where does the setup.exe come in for this? Are you running your MSI directly through "msiexec.exe TRANSFORMS="whatever.mst" /i "whatever.msi" or did you create an MST and then used some type of setup.ini to specify it? I think we'd need a little more clarification on the MSI/MST/setup.exe connection.

SuccessSystems is right. You can use Wise or InstallShield to create the .mst file but use it as a reference. Try to locate all the change you made and create a new .mst file with Orca.
Any .mst created by wise are >250kb and I only change one (1) thing!! But when you create the .mst using Orca, you will have a 5-10 kb file size.
My .mst for this package was 8kb.
