ClearCase nightmare

Hi there!

there is a question about ClearCase.
It's a real nightmare. [:-]
I've repackaged this product the billion times and everytime I've got the same issue:
When I install the repackaged product the utility "Rational Software Installed Product Information" doesn't show me the installed ClearCase software.
But if I use the original software everything looks fine.
I assume there is something missing in the registry.
Is it possible to fix this error by editing registry? Has somebody faced this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
You can run regmon on both installs and check out the difference.
Also you could go thinking about nesting this extra utility 'Rational SW'

I had to use the vendor install because I was under a time crunch. The suspect is likely the MVFS file system driver or at least that's where I was stuck before taking a different approach.

it seems to me that this utility is referencing to the vendor's app GUID, but I'm not sure.
it might be hardcoded somewhere inside...
I tryed to use regmon and filemon.
it looks like the utility is looking for the original guid but doing this in the strange way...
there is too much cross references in the registry and it's unclear how they work...
this is why I asked if someone might have had the same problem in the past.
thanks

I also had the same issue. I then used the siteprep util and ran the setup via a command line script this worked a treat and created the MVFS service and the virtual drive. I'm just having an issue with controlling the installation hook.
