A component should only contain one executable file to ensure that self-healing will be triggered from an entrypoint and repair any missing executable file. This is one of the Windows Install rules and some of them we do break from some time to time for various reasons.

These words are often referred as the same but you can of course split these up as:
repair: installs missing resources
self-heal: checks for broken components (when an entrypoint is called/executed) and when found triggers a repair
resilience: is the combination of the two above

I think your senior people are asking:
Can self-healing occur on different level and the answer is yes.
Self-healing can occur on feature or component level depending on how the feature "tree" is organized and where the entrypoint is located. I suggest they read John McFadyen's (aka jmcfadyen) explanation at http://www.appdeploy.com/messageboards/fb.asp?m=24182 and Ed Tippelt's (aka EdT) at http://www.etlengineering.com/installer/hkcu.txt
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
