Converting wise (.exe) into (.msi)
Hi All,
Is there anyway i can convert wise package (.exe ) into a wise (.msi) or using any other tools. I have already try to do capture & install mode but some of the components were missing in the created msi. So i was wondering , why can't i use vendors (.exe) packages by wise . Any ideas or suggestions !!!!!! thanks in advance

Hi,
You u can try using Legacy setup conversion tool in Wise package studio to convert the Wise exe to .MSI..

i did try that one but it just creates empty.msi shell, may be i'm doing it wrong way.. can me let me know are the right steps to do it thanks

In Wise for Windows Installer: File > Convert SMS Installer or WiseScript Installation > Browse > Files of Type:= .exe

I don't see option for File > Convert SMS Installer or Wisescript Installation.. ? should i be looking under customization ( windows Installer Editior ) ?

In Wise for windows Installer , the option is placed under Tools - Import SMS Installer or Wise script Installation .

regarding the legacy setup conversion, I've either gotten garbage from it, or nothing at all. Wise either needs to "wise up" and improve this tool, or just drop it. Legacy EXEs are going away.
Your best bet is to get your hands on the source files if you can, and just drop them into a new MSI. some EXE files will expand for you.
