CS3 Production Premium Premiere Pro

G'Day Forumers,

Happy New Year to all.

We're at it again. This time with CS3 Production Premium. Package attack is similar to CS3 we did last year; and so far the licensing appears to work with our previous apps.
But I have an issue with an error when I laaunch the app Premiere Pro that states something like:
Unable to find a valid editing mode, please reinstall

I've a suspicion it is to do with our vmware machines (and the codecs installed) however I tested on our standalone lab box with the same error. ProcMon hasn't showed anything obvious, although I'm running through it again.
I did a dxdiag which highlighted the lack of sound card, that's why I went to the stanalone lab box.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
