Deploy App to W7 requiring Disabled Desktop Composition
Hi there,
Bit of a newbie trying to deploy an app so that desktop composition is turned off in W7 automatically for them.
The app in question is an assistive technology app - Lightning with Speech - deploying to W7 Clients via GPO. It deploys fine but needs Aero turned off. If aero is on, the screen turns black and the only way out is to kill the process remotely!
To manually make the setting is fine - tick "Disable Desktop Composition" in the compatibility tab of the shortcut and it runs fine and Aero remains enabled when not using the package.
However, have not been able to get this setting to stick in a deployment scenario. The setting only seems to stick for the user who makes the change. Have tried creating dummy shortcuts (but the setting disappears between users) and scripting using "net stop usmxs" but that needs elevated privileges.
Basically this app needs to be available to a few users who roam between various PCs. Don't really want to disable aero on all PCs just for these few users occasionally needing to use this package.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Matt
