Do not uninstall files

Hi All

I have gone from VSI 2.0 to Wise for windows installer 5.1. In VSI you have an option to not uninstall a file after the user removes the program.

Is there a way to set this property in Wise?

Also is there a way to make sure wise does not relpace a certain file after a repair? I have one file which is a data file and do not want this over written with a new version upon reinstall?

Also this same file if deleted causes the MSI to self repair. Is there a way to stop it self repairing for a specific file?

Thanks

James

the whole compnent will be repaired if the Key in the component is changed, so change the key to a dummy reg file in the same component as the file you dont wanna be repaired - not that fancy but it should work

Or make a component especially for this file. In Component Details you can check the boxes 'Leave installed on uninstall' and 'Never overwrite if keypath exsists'.
Never had any problems with it.
You could be vEry neat and turn this component into a Merge Module for future updates so you can "forget" about it.

If you go into the Component Table and select the file, you can remove the GUID for that component to stop it being either self repaired or removed by uninstall.
