Error During Uninstall fo Office 2003 Prof Edition
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
This Error comes during the Uninstall of Office 2003 Professional Edition SP2.
Can anybody explain the reason behind.
I wish to reiterate that this error comes during the Uninstall and not Install.

The only thing I can think of is that a patch has been applied directly to the computer at some time, instead of patching the admin install and then "reinstalling" the entire product on the computer.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when a patch is applied directly to a computer (instead of the admin point) it doesn't actually 'patch' the cached MSI package on the computer. And hence when it is uninstalled, it might be attempting to find the patch image again, and can't.
