Feedback on Tool Selection
Hi there - my company is in the process of setting up a packaging skillset. I have had 4 years previous experience packaging with Wise initially then the majority of my time on AdminStudio. Parts of our team have come down to deciding between AppDNA and AdminStudio.
Personally, I lean towards AdminStudio Professional for the conflict management and the Microsoft Virtualisation support. A quick look at AppDNA makes me feel its strength is bringing compatibility issues to light and although it can repackage applications its not the core strength of the product, but I may be wrong there.
We are looking at a number of clients who will be migrating to Windows 7 from Windows XP and we offer App-V and SCCM as a solution to clients as well.
I have license costs for Wise Package Studio and AdminStudio but not for AppDNA. As I say I'm leaning towards AdminStudio but the cost difference between it and other products is rather large.
Any thoughts or experience anyone else can offer in regards to which toolset would suit would be appreciated, esp. any experience with AppDNA.
