Group Policy mapped network drive changes letter

Has anyone had a minor issue with setting up a network share to add through Group Policy to one letter, say on 'O', and then logged to find it has come through on another letter, 'Z'? A seemingly minor issue, but if we come later and want to connect something to 'Z', it's gonna cause issues. I've seen it happen to a few people on Windows 8 machines in my workplace and I have Windows 10 build 10041 installed on my machine and its happening to me now.

  • What happens if you force a group policy refresh from an elevated command prompt? - EdT 9 years ago
  • I am using window 8 in my office and I do not face any problem like this with setting up a network share to group policy. I like this window I have no problem with this. - trackforce 9 years ago
  • EdT, no group policy refresh didn't change anything. It may be one of our specific network settings. - alphabeta 9 years ago
  • I presume you've used the GPMW to determine if the policy is being applied? And you definitely have the mapping set to 'Replace'? - anonymous_9363 9 years ago
  • Sorry, have to hold my hands up. I know I said we link it through Group Policy but I should have said it's through Active Directory and the profile tab. - alphabeta 9 years ago
