How to get a packaging job?
Hello [:D],
I read Phil Wilson's book The definitive guide to Windows Installer'.
I've also read and understood Windows Installer documentation. I read though not fully comprehend 2500 pages Install Shield 2012 user guide. I've downloaded evaluation copy of InstallShield Express edition and played on it. To add, I followed this package dev forum and got familiar with issues that could be faced in a real packaging environment.[8|]
Now the big question - where do I go from here???
I went to dice/monster, all looking for 4,5,6,7.....years of experience. I'm disheartened, clueless as to how to get an installshield packaging job?
My dear fellow members, any useful advise would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Snow

I guess most of us didn't start "fresh" with packaging.
Personally I started on 2nd line support for a couple of years, then 3rd line about a year before I was offered an opportunity to start packaging.
I had no experience what so ever, but had great collegues that helped me and also did a WPS course.
Make sure to add a bit scripting to your bank of knowledge, if you haven't already.
I know why they're all asking for some 4+ years of experience, and that's cause it takes (maybe not 4 years) a while to get a feeling for how to attack a software.
Good luck!
