How to see parameters of .EXE? For SILENT Install using command line.

Hi ITNinja Team,

How can I see which parameters/command line are available for a .EXE application? I can easily see for .MSI by wrongly typing a parameters via command line, but for .EXE, I can't. Hope you could assist me.

Thank you,
John

most will accept the /? or -help switch and will result in a dialog prompt (note some will need to be run in cmd)

if its an installshield exe you can use the following command switches Here

however if nothing is prompted you can use other tools to try and possible switches (such as process explorer you can analyse the string settings)

I like to use an application called USSF (Universal Silent Switch Finder), you give it the .exe and it will provide any known switches for that software.

You can use the strings command to show the switches

see this link as an example
