How would I update the BIOS and the chipsets on all of my workstations in my inventory?
I am just looking for the best way to update the BIOS, chipset, and other drivers on all of my workstations in my inventory. I have all Dell PCs in my inventory. I have a mix of Dell Optiplex 990, Optiplex 9010, and Optiplex 9010 AIO.

If you have no unknown's in devices I would not worry about updating the hardwire OS drivers, you can also select those under windows updates when they are available. The bios may need updating. As a rule I make sure the arriving machines have the newest bios. What sort of management devices/programs do you use. We use use both kace 1000 and 2000. We developed methods with both appliances to push the new bios and some 3rd party drivers to the machines. - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago

Sorry I probably should have put that in there, but yes we are also using the K1000 and K2000. - tsienkiewicz@ldirx.com 11 years ago

have you tried using the dell updates in the KBOX 1000? That is what most use on supported dell models. - nshah 11 years ago

You can use the DELL UPDATES features to take care about all the Dell updates (BIOS and firmwares as well).
Be careful when you update BIOS: try it ona subset of computers before to extend to all your environment.
Be sure that you are not deploying BIOS to machine with the Bitlocker enabled or the user after the reboot may will need to enter the BitLocker key!
