imaging Mac error...exiting with status 6
We were having trouble deploying an image to a new iMac...kept getting an error that reported "failed to complete successfully" and "exiting with status 6" and the deployment would fail.
Tech support was unable to offer a solution, but promised to work on the issue. While they were doing that, I had another idea to try...The name of the Mac's drive that the image was harvested from was named "Macintosh HD." The destination iMac's drive had been erased and had the name of "untitled." I changed the drive's name from "untitled" to "Macintosh HD" on the destination iMac and then the image deployment worked just fine.
I related this find to tech support and based on the conversation, I believe Kace engineers will be working on addressing this issue in an upcoming patch.
In the meantime, I offer you this workaround if you're experiencing this issue.
