IMIS10.4 package
Hiya,
i'm new to the board and so far it's been very useful. But, i'm now attempting to package iMIS10.4. It's a membership system used by the company i work for.
The softeware doesn't come with a msi. It only has a setup.exe. Once the software has been packaged with Wise, it then requires a patch to be run over the top.
If anyone has ever come accross this software, i would be happy with any advice.
Thanks

thefantom,
Until fairly recently, I worked for a small services company that distributed iMis. Unless 10.4 is very different from the previous versions I worked with, you won't have an easy time of it. That being said, it should be a InstallShield setup-drive .msi. You might want to see if you can start the setup and the extraction, then grab the .msi and attempt to work with it.
Is there also still an Omnis element right in the middle of the install that requires entering a serial number?

Craig,
I am actually shocked to hear that someone else has actually heard of the product. A few years ago, i successfully packages iMIS4.3, that took an eternity. In comparison to the new version, it was rather simple. This new version not only require the Omnis serial number, but once the packaage has been installed, it then requires a patch to be run over the top of it. And the company i work for, require their own libraries added to the directory structure after the app has been configured.
The supplier has been of no use so far, and i dont expect any help from them at all.
So far, i hane managed to package 10.4 with Wise setup capture. the patches are proving a bit more difficult.
I will let you know how i go in the next few weeks.
Thanxs
