Installer running again and again
Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything.
I have an MSI running on XP, it works fine for myself but if I log in as a managed user it runs about 10 times when I run or close the app.
I have tried removing restiction on the Program directory and Temp, but no joy.
I have also tried to check any registry changes but there is nothing obvious there.
Can anyone offer any pointers of anything I should be looking for?

What kind of package is that? Probably the package installation loops because of some special setting which has been set for each user. Could you send me or share somewhere on the web msi from this package? How much megabytes is that?

Check the eventviewer to find out which component is being accessed.
Then try setting a HKCU keypath for the component.

Thanks for the reply's but I got to the bottom of it with the Installsheild Quality Manager. There was a broken link, pointing at an IE folder in My Doc's. Wasn't needed, so just removed the relevant part from the MSI. Works fine now.

This is basic MSI knowledge.
when a installer keeps running there are basicly 2 reasons:
- there are conflicts with other installations
- there are problems with user-rights
- there's a link to an item that doesn't exist.

Did you create the package yourself? Did you run it through the MSI consistency checker? Orca does this, and Wise packages studio has a module that does this.
If you haven't already, read up on this web site. This guy does a good job at explaining errors that you can get creating packages. Finally, have a google search with the exact application name and message you get, because maybe somebody has seen it before?
