Installshield: software update using answer file
Hello All,
First, I'd like to say this board has been an excellent resource for package deployment. However, through searching the KB and previous posts I am still stuck trying to create an answer file with installshield using the '/r' switch.
It seems others have been in similar situation with .MSI deployment, however this is simply using an answer file with setup.exe.
On a machine with a fresh install, I am having no issues creating an answer file. When installing the same software over a previous version, the recording of my answer file quits prematurely. Upon reviewing the setup.log using this 'updated' answer file, I see that the result code is successful. Also my setup.ISS ends at count=0.
What seems to be happening is the answer is simply running for the 'Searching for Previous versions of the software' portion of the install not the entire portion
My question is: is there any way to nest or call multiple answer files to silently update? Also, could I have the script 'count' through this inital period of 'searching for previous...'
Thanks for any insight.
