For what it's worth, I'm packaging the same app with the same result. I got past the 2343 error, the capture finds a couple .INI entries and sets the directory column to "_.." (without quotes). I deleted the lines to see if they were simply bogus, but that got me out of the frying pan into the fire with a very odd error not conforming to Windows Installer error messages.
Have you gotten anywhere with this one?

I know this is a bit old, but...
I had this error and found that the directory entry I'd put in the CreateFolder table had to be the exact same case used in the Directory table. So for example, directory was defined as backup_files in the dir table, but I'd refererenced it as Backup_files in createfolder. Altering the case fixes the error.

I know this is a very old thread but I found so I figureed others might as well.
I was having this error and solved it so I figured I would share what I found as there is precious little on the web about this.
I was getting this error when the Select Destination folder screen of my installer was comming up. I later found that there was an entry in my Properties table that was being used as the default destination folder and it was a malformed/invalid name for a folder it had a "[" (no quotes) in the name.
When I fix that the error went away.
