Java 2 Runtime 1.4.2_03

I have created a MST for Java successfully, but want to get rid of the shortcut it creates on the start menu.
Yet I cannot find a shortcut created in the MST. The shortcut is called the Java Web Start Application Manager in the Start --> Programs Menu.

Thanx[:o]

edit the MSI with WinInstall LE or something like that and delete the shortcut. Then repackage the MSI

Open your MST, go to the Custom Actions gui or table and look for a "Call DLL From Installation", with a name like "CreateJavaWSStartMenuicon", comment it out or remove it.
At least this is what I found with JRE 1.4.2_05-B4.

Yeah Sun Java MSIs are basically EXE installers wrapped in a MSI. Almost everything is done with a custom action.

Hi,
Removing the CreateJavaWSStartMenuicon entry under Custom Action sorted it out.
Spot on gents
