k1000 inventory exporting to xls/spreadsheet

So my job requires a lot of the Asset section for k1000 devices to be filled out (purchase date, funding, etc), and I believe the easiest way to fill these in would be to export the current new devices to a spreadsheet, updating this info, then importing it back to k1000.

I can see where to IMPORT files to K1000 for inventory purposes, but how do I EXPORT a list of new devices to update by spreadsheet, then import those back into their KACE destination? And am I correct in thinking the import would update the device/asset information as long as the computer names lined up?

Side question: The Asset Tag section is still not showing up, even though the BIOS has it entered. Any way to detect them through KACE? If not, I'll just use the asset column from my manual spreadsheet.

If I understand your question correctly, you need to update asset information for your devices. To do this, you would simply export the Device Assets from Assets->Assets page in to csv format, update the csv with new fields, then import the assets back from the Asset import wizard.

Comments:
  • Now I see it, under the Choose Action button... the export only takes the 8 columns displayed in Asset search. If I title my excel columns exactly as within the Asset itself (i.e "Asset Tag (Asset)), will Kace automatically parse that info when I import? - zweeks 6 years ago
    • I'm not sure, did you test it? The documentation says says to verify "equivalent Asset Fields in the Asset Type" so I think you're correct. - JasonEgg 6 years ago

If you change the "View by Filter" on the asset list page to Devices, you will see more fields to show on the list page. You can then enable more fields to show and export them
