MDAC 2.8
Hi all,
Sorry for starting another thread about this, but I am confused. It could be because its a monday and I dont want to be a work.
I have the MDAC 2.8 msm file and the exe of it. What do I do to create a MSI, so I and use it through our network. Do I do a setup and capture from the exe or do I use the MSM some how.
Help, as I need to do this today. Also I have a Jet to package as well.
I snapped this software, but it need MDAC 2.8 and Jet40 sp3. Git!
Cheers all.

If I were you I would not try to repackage this. I'd go to Microsoft's MDAC distribution page and read up on deployment.
If you try to repackage it, that's one more step to introduce errors, and it won't be supported by Microsoft. Also, I believe the MDAC 2.8 contains the Jet drivers so you shouldn't have to package them separately.
Hope this helps.

Download the Windows Installer Wrapper Wizard and then use the silent install switches to create the MSI install. When you download and run wiww.exe you you see what I mean. The silent install switches can be found in the Package Knowledgebase entries on this site.

Cheers for that mate,
Windows Installer Wrapper Wizard
One thing though, I went to install the WIWW. And a error came up saying that the COMCTL32.OCX failed to register. And did not install.

WIWW does not install it is just an executable. Now if you are getting that error then you may be missing a runtime file, try running one of the following commands
Windows 95, 98, or Me:
regsvr32 \windows\system\COMCTL32.OCX
Windows NT or 2000:
regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\COMCTL32.OCX
Windows XP:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\COMCTL32.OCX
If that does not work, then download the new version of COMCTL32.OCX here
