MSI 1731 - Product out of sync with client package
Hello -
Once again, I am an AdminStudio noob.. (We are going to training in January, finally).
We deployed a package that has several Current User registry settings, so whenever a new user runs the application, it runs in 'repair' mode to apply those registry settings. (The original install path in on a UNC share that everyone can access).
Anyhow, it was all working fine until I had to make a change to the MSI. The original package was making PATH environment changes that I had to remove pronto. So I opened the project in editor, removed the PATH references, then rebuilt the MSI. The product GUID stayed the same, and everything seems to look the same in the Uninstall key for the app.
So, ever since updating the MSI, everyone opening the app for the first time gets a "1731 - Product out of sync with client package" error. If we deinstall / reinstall the app everything is fine, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
What needs to happen on all the client machines to get them in sync again? Can I run an msiexec command on all of them to update the package?
TIA,
