Office 2003

First I would like to inform im new to packaging.

Application - Office 2003
Packaging tool - Marimba

I packaged and deployed its working fine...now I have 2 issues.

Issue 1:

I want to know how to auto configure the outlook profile for the fresh install.

i.e if i install office 2003 on a fresh PC....if the user opens the outlook it shld open
his profile. I tried providing the information in MST as modify profile and also tried changing the registry setting hkcu\software\microsoft\office\11.0\setup\ importprf \\server\share\importprf.prf .no gud

What am i missing here.

Issue 2:

When I upgrade from office 2000 to office 2003, some of the settings are not migrated.

Eg., outlook spell check was enabled in 2000 after upgrade the option is unchecked
Signature enabled in 2000 after upgrade im able to see the signature, but the settings point to none.

Please help me in this issue,

Thanks in advance

Hi Raj,
there is absolutely no need to repackage O2k3! To customize the install of O2k3, use 'Office Custom Installation Wizard' from the resource kit. It generates a transform which you use to install. Have a look here:

Hi Nick,

Thanks for ur reply, in custom installation wizard...in the 17 th screen if we select modify profile provided %username% and exchange server name....will it automatically connect to the exchange server for a fresh install?.

Then how abt the settings migrated when we are using upgrading from office 200o to 2003
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
