Office 2003 Registry Updates

Hi All,

I have deployed Office 2003 via GPO. After a while I have discovered due to some hectic policies that the users cannot select an application to open a file with [:(]. Example; create a txt file on your desktop, right-click - open with - choose program. Excel and Powerpoint does not display in the list.

I have found the reg keys needed to enable this and tried to add it to the existing mst being deployed via GPO. But when running the install, it doesn't update the keys. I have tried the "update reg keys" section in the ORK.

Pls help

Ammendment to my note.

If I push down an MSI it updates the registry successfully. But when I include this in my MST it doesn't update the keys.

Thanks

After you have made the neccessary changes in the MST, are you REDEPLOYING the MSI & MST in Active Directory again?

Nope I used the command line builder to create the shortcut and run it on a clean newly build machine.

What about if you were to install the application manually using MSIEXEC instead of GPO? Does this work?

I tried to use the Setup.exe with the MST and the PRO11.MSI using the MST but still no luck.

I could not insert those reg entries into the existing MST. I actually had to create a new MST and added the entries.

but....

There is still no Excel or PowerPoint association in Open With box [:@]

Thanks for the help B, I will continue the fight this side
