Office 2007 Compatibility Pack

I am trying to deploy the Office 2007 compatibility pack silently (fileformatconverters.exe). The /quiet switch works but reboots some machines. I've looked at the /norestart option mentioned about this package but that does not seem to work with the exe. Is there a way to supress reboots for this without using the msi? If not, can someone post the steps to use the msi file for this?

/noreboot is not an option with FileFormatConverters.exe, I have just done this app and have had none of my machines reboot - even if Word is open.

What does your event log say as this package doesnt need a reboot.?

Anyway... FileFormatConverters.exe /extract:c:\temp will give you the MSI and CAB.

The error is:

The process msiexec.exe has initiated the restart for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
Minor Reason: 0x2
Shutdown Type: reboot
Comment: The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete or continue the configuration of 'Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system'.

What can I do?

I guess Windows Installer is trying to reply files that are in use. Try adding REBOOT=ReallySuppress to the property table.

I've been using msiexec /i O12Conv.msi /qb! and haven't had any reboots yet.

There is no switch to suppress the reboot with the command you're using - msiexec /i O12Conv.msi /qb!

The problem is that the msi or the exe can initiate a reboot if a dll file is in use. Has anyone successfully deployed this with a norestart/noreboot option? Does that option work with the exe?

Getting this as well, some of the installs work fine, finish silently, no reboot required.

Others finish and then initiate a reboot even though '/norestart' has been specified. It just seems to ignore this setting!

Did you find a fix Trooper?
