Opera 12 unattended installation switches and error codes

Does anyone know the installer switches for the Opera12 installer? The switches for version11 are working but I'd like to know if there is an option to prevent Opera from pinning a shortcut on the Taskbar. This is an option during a normal installation.
Also, does anyone know the Opera error codes?

Thanks

The Software Library covers v11 but at the moment nothing on v12. There may be few changes so it is worth starting there: http://www.itninja.com/software/opera-software-asa/opera-2/11-983

Take a look at the link below. The user settings are stored in a configuration file that can be modified. You may want to setup the settings on a test machine and push that file out.

Hi

As a work around for getting rid of the Opera from the task bar you can delete this lnk file from below location:

"C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar"

What you mean when you see Opera return codes?

  • You can suppress the Pin to Taskbar during install using "/pintotaskbar 0".

    My install string is:
    start /wait Opera_1212_int_Setup.exe /silent /launchopera 0 /desktopshortcut 0 /quicklaunchshortcut 0 /pintotaskbar 0 /setdefaultbrowser 0 /allusers - Lemon8r 11 years ago
    • Hi Lemon, where did you find those switches or even know to use them ? - darkgen 11 years ago
  • I started with the Opera WIKI around install switches, here:
    http://my.opera.com/operawiki/forums/topic.dml?id=1299672

This hasn't been updated for Opera 12 though, so it didn't have the pintotaskbar option listed.

Then, I identified that I didn't want anything pinned to taskbar and researched solutions, but they were all around purging the pinned item after install, which I preferred not to do.

Then I repeatedly installed it guessing at switches until I tripped over /pintotaskbar and confirmed it did what I wanted. - Lemon8r 11 years ago
    • Cheers thx for that Lemon - darkgen 11 years ago
