Outlook 2003 when you need Office 2000 apps
I have not seen any thread on this here, so I am posting this as an advisement:
In our environment, we have dependency on several Office 2000 apps because of licensing and shared Access database issues.
I have found that if, for example, Access 2000 is installed after Office 2003, Outlook attachment functionality is affected. When a user tries to open an attachment, they receive an error that the file is not available, etc.
I have found the same is true if, for example, FrontPage 2000 is installed after Office 2003.
Installing Office 2000 apps into a custom directory will not avoid the issue.
I have only been able to find two solutions:
1. make sure 2000 apps are installed before Office 2003.
2. if 2000 apps are installed after Office 2003, run a Detect and Repair on the Office 2003 installation.
