Overwrite existing file

Hi There,

Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about overwriting or replacing an existing file on a target machine "regardless". Neither file (ie existing file or replacement file) have version information. I want to be able to do this without having to delete (or remove) the file on the target machine.

Thanks.

Could you provide more detail? Are you building an install? What tool are you using to do this?

It's a repackaged app that uses the Java Runtime Environment. I need to overwrite a config file located in the users profile. I'm using Installshield Professional - Adminstudio Edition.

See Wise KB Article #1318
HOWTO: Installing a file regardless of versioning rules.

Perhaps there is a similar method within Installshield.

I'll remember that one for future reference but unfortunately none of the files being installed have version numbers so I don't think I can use any of them as a companion file.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
