Packaging Access 97 for XP

hey guys, I'm packaging this at the moment.
Has anybody here done this b4? Theres not much info in the Packages section.

I should be ok for any permissions issues, but if you know of any conflicts your help would be appreciated!

Hi,

We did an MSI for Access 97 Runtime 8.0 (rather than the full Access 97 app) to run under XP until the rollout was complete and all access database systems were converted to Access 2000 format - which we've just about completed over 2yrs later!!

It does the job reasonably well but we found various conflicts along the way - mainly because it was installed alongside Access XP... I guess if you are running the app on it's own you should be OK. Sorry I can't be more specific - it was packaged by someone who has since left and documentation is a bit sparse...!

If you have a specific question I'll ferret around the MSI and try and help [;)]

Good luck!

Cheers Rob,

As far as I know, the package won't have to exist alongside access XP. At the moment I'm just troubleshooting a couple of errors for the user. more than likely resolved by granting permissions.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Cheers
Dave.

We found that restricted users needed write access to the following registry keys:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Jet\3.5\...
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0..

It seems to coexist with Office 2003 quite nicely.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
