Problems with Macromedia Flash 7.0

Everytime I run the MSI for Flash 7.0, msiexec.exe opens, then closes. No install, nada. I tried it from the command line with /i but no go.

Here is the link to get the package. Just pretend you're a corporation.

Anyone have any reccommedations?

Did you check your event logs for any errors? Your MSI could also be corrupt. Can you try the install on a clean reference system to insure your installer file is working. Beyond that, I have encountered no problems with the MSI installer for flash 7 and the transform creation for a silent install is very straight forward.

I tried it on three systems, no go. I did not check the installer log though...where do I find it? As for creating a transform, I didn't try to even create a transform, just tried running the msi. I have re-downloaded the msi's from Macromedia, but the same result.

Thanks,

Consider it is a tiny install, and as far as I remember it is silent, so could it be that it has actually installed correctly?? I bet it has. I would go to a site that requires flash 7 and test it. You can also get this info from Internet Properties:

Open Internet Explorer and click tools
Choose Internet Options
On the general tab click Settings under the heading "Temporary Internet Files"
Click View Objects
Look for Shockwave Flash Object or Flash Object Or Macromedia Flash
Choose View and Detailed, then one of the headings is version, it should state the version there.

Ok...now that I investigate further, the install DOES work. Just that the first time you take that browser to the shockwave test page (or any other shockwave page), they want to gather some marketing info. Anyone know a way to skip this portion? In other words, make it look like I've already given them this info.

I tried running their little marketing app to see what it did, and it did quite a bit to the machine.... I'm prolly looking for a needle in a haystack...but...

Best practice would suggest we use the vendor supplied MSI for Corporate redistribution, it works very well and is quite easy to deploy, I don't see why to bother with the extra work of repackaging.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
