Publisher 2002 via RIS and GPO
Hi there,
Im a complete novice and im trying to assign Publisher XP to a few stations via GPO but its not working.
Ive copied the publisher cd to our apps folder on our RIS server (which works fine with all other packages)
I then assigned the package to a workstation group. When pcs were restarted, it said it was installing upon bootup, but there was no trace on the machine. I pointed the installation path to the PUB.msi on the cd. This is where im not sure what to do next.
I was wondering whether I need an MST file for it, like we use for office but im a novice on them as well.
B4 anyone mentions, yes I do need to read up on MSI's and RIS, but as the boss is on holiday this is fairly urgent so im trying to sort this blindfolded :)
Cheers for any help

Hi,
Have a look at the machine where it said it was installing and checkout the Event Viewer, it will give you a quick idea of what went wrong.
For most MS Products that need to be distributed you generally need to create an ADMIN installation from the supplied media, this will allow you to put in the volume licence product key (might be why it's not installing). Then using the Office Resource Kit (ORK) create an MST with the "Custom installation wizard".
It may also be permissions on the software folder.
Good luck,
